A full size replica Spitfire, an aircraft that played a quintessential part in the battle for air supremacy during The Battle of Britain, will be exhibiting at this special event at Kings Hill in Kent on 16th May.
The War and Peace Battle of Britain Experience commemorates the extraordinary lives of those who braved this infamous 16-week battle during the summer and autumn of 1940 and are pleased to be supporting a special service of commemoration at Kings Hill. The event marks the 70th anniversary of the Dambusters, one of the best known and most daring bombing raids of World War II. Organised by Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council and supported by Kings Hill developer Liberty Property Trust, the commemoration will be led by Lord Lieutenant of Kent, Viscount De L’Isle MBE.
There will be a Spitfire flypast over the Control Tower at the heart of the estate – where aircrew were guided in and out of West Malling airfield during the war.
Wing Commander Gibson was awarded the Victoria Cross for his bravery during the Dambusters raid and a wreath and other tributes in his memory will be laid, alongside the Running Airman sculpture, which commemorates the aviation past of Kings Hill.
